Superintendent David Roth introduced the item and described the District's submission of a response letter to county agencies. Students Noah Wong, Xihe Tang and Hrishan Patil presented findings that highlighted potential effects on aesthetics, traffic, endangered species habitat and noise; the Board praised the students' civic engagement and thanked GATE teacher Kelly Rose for her guidance.
Board Member Melissa Keyzer moved to approve the District Response to the Draft EIR for the proposed Costco development; Board Member Brenda Hanson-Smith seconded. The motion carried 5-0.
Board members noted the student presentation and staff analysis informed the letter the district submitted for the county's environmental review process. No public comment was offered on the item at the meeting.
