The Buckeye Union School District Board on Feb. 4 unanimously accepted its annual independent audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. Director of Fiscal Services Mike Henkel reported the audit produced a clean report with no findings, no material weaknesses, no significant deficiencies, and unmodified opinions across financial statements and federal/state programs. Henkel told trustees the audited figures matched the previously approved unaudited actuals, aside from required GASB-related accounting entries.
Trustees commended the finance team; Henkel thanked his staff and noted his seven years of service to the district while the board acknowledged support for Dana Rizzuto as she transitions into Director of Fiscal Services.
On personnel, Superintendent David Roth recommended appointing Joel Dameral as principal of William Brooks Elementary effective July 1, 2026; Roth said the district had positive interim feedback and that Mr. Dameral had expressed interest in remaining. The appointment was included on the consent agenda and the Board approved the consent items in a single motion (motion carried 5-0), which the minutes show included the personnel update.
The Board also approved suggested revisions to district policies and regulations on second reading, including Regulation 3515 (Campus Security) and Regulation 3515.4 (Recovery For Property Loss Or Damage), and agreed to postpone action on the November 2025 CSBA policy updates until the March 4 meeting so trustees could review them further.
(Motion and vote details: consent agenda and audit acceptance motions carried 5-0; no public comments were recorded on these items.)
