Buckeye Union trustees press county for school-specific review of draft Costco EIR

He stressed the importance of evaluating impacts specifically “as they relate to Oak Meadow,” noting parents and community members raised concerns during a recent engagement session.
Board members identified the primary concerns as increased traffic congestion near campus access points, potential air-quality effects from a gas station sited close to a sensitive receptor, student safety during arrival and dismissal, noise, and gaps in the draft analysis. Trustees said the report does not clearly evaluate impacts through the lens of a school environment and requested staff produce a focused set of EIR questions for county consideration.
The board directed Trustee Jon Yoffie to work with district staff on the list of questions and return the proposed items to the board for review and possible formal comment. Public comment was recorded as present (one commenter listed), but no substantive remarks were included in the minutes.
The discussion did not produce a formal Board vote on the EIR; next steps identified were staff coordination with Trustee Yoffie and submission of questions to the county during the public review period.
