The Millard County Commission approved the transfer of a 2013 Great Dane 53-foot trailer to Snow College to support a cooperative CDL training program the county has run with the college. Commissioners said the program has produced CDL licenses locally and that Snow College can insure and operate the trailer; staff cited an exception in the county ordinance allowing donations to state public institutions such as Snow College.
The commission also approved routine surplus-property actions: gifting service revolvers to retirees Shane Brunson and Richard Jacobson as retirement gifts, approving destruction of obsolete relay panels with no resale value, and ratifying donation of an unsold artificial Christmas tree to a local Festival of Trees event. The Great Dane trailer transfer was recorded for county asset tracking (title transfer), and commissioners instructed staff to document the other surplus dispositions.
Quote: A commissioner said of the educational partnership, "the program's viable, the program's doing good" and moved that the trailer be gifted. Staff confirmed the county will drop its trailer insurance and Snow College will insure the asset after transfer.
Next steps: staff will prepare title transfer paperwork for Snow College and record the surplus dispositions in county asset records.
