The Personal Finance Committee voted June 15 to contribute $8,000 from the city’s special projects budget to Brainerd Community Action to help fund Fourth of July fireworks.
Staff said Brainerd has contributed $8,000 annually since 2016 from the special projects line. For 2026 the special projects budget was $28,000, of which $5,000 had already been allocated and $23,000 remained as of the meeting. Brainerd Community Action’s executive director thanked the committee for past support and said the organization appreciated any continued contributions; staff noted Baxter had already approved its contribution for the year.
A motion to approve the $8,000 contribution was made, seconded and approved by voice vote; the chair declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned.
Next steps: staff will process the payment from the special projects budget and notify Brainerd Community Action.
