Staff announced an Explore Our Ecosystem event at Woodside Green to present bio-blitz results (date was discussed and clarified during the meeting) and noted that the upcoming Blues & Jazz Festival will require significant staff logistics and support from the city service and police departments.
Board members discussed maintenance and inspection practices: parks staff said they perform weekly park checks and aim for twice-yearly full playground inspections, with a hierarchy of risk ratings that can lead to section closures if safety inspections require it. Staff said they maintain a capital maintenance budget for playground repairs so some urgent fixes can be made without waiting for larger capital allocations.
