Board members asked staff to confirm that the project stays within the originally authorized total cost; administration replied that the contingency and allowances were built into the project budget to allow these kinds of adjustments. The motions to approve both change orders passed by voice vote.
The administration framed the measures as necessary to keep the construction timeline intact and to have the majority of classrooms ready with new HVAC systems before students return in August.
