The Rio Vista City Council voted Nov. 4 to approve a contract with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to reimburse the city for additional fire and paramedic costs arising from scheduled Rio Vista Bridge closures.
Staff said the agreement uses the same contract language as prior closures with updated cost estimates and clarified the city’s established process for submitting receipts and supporting documentation for reimbursement. The item follows earlier closures and is intended to cover ancillary public-safety and staffing costs the city may incur while closures are scheduled.
Council members asked about alternate weekend schedules if planned November closures are delayed; staff said Caltrans has identified alternate weekends in December and agreed to outreach if the schedule conflicts with major local events. The item passed on a roll‑call vote.
What’s next: staff will coordinate with Caltrans on final dates and reimbursement submission procedures.
