Planning commission schedules joint Aug. 27 public hearing, retains current officers

At the June 18 Lancaster County Planning Commission meeting planning staff said the commission will hold a joint meeting with the Board of Supervisors at 7:00 p.m. on Aug. 27 for a public hearing on the R2 legacy zoning change. Staff explained the joint hearing will allow required notification to be sent once for both bodies, which the staff described as the "easiest and most cost-effective way to handle this necessary public hearing" and said it will require a quorum of the commission to be present at the joint session.
In board reports Commissioner Mr. Sorenson said the three yard-setback variance hearings held this month were all approved.
On elections, the commission moved to retain the current slate of officers. Members indicated no changes were desired; the motion to keep the slate passed by voice vote. Crystal was nominated for secretary and Tai indicated he was willing to be nominated; members kept the slate as presented.
Staff noted the commission typically does not meet in July and that December meetings are also usually not held; the joint Aug. 27 meeting replaces the commission's regularly scheduled meeting the week prior. No formal votes on the R2 legacy zoning change were taken at the June 18 meeting; the Aug. 27 joint hearing will provide the opportunity for public comment and subsequent action.
