The Cheatham County Legislative Body approved a package of line-item budget amendments for the General Purpose School Fund at a special called session on June 27, 2024 in Ashland City.
Commissioner David Anderson moved to approve the amendments; Commissioner Bill Powers seconded. The roll-call vote recorded 10 yes, 0 no and 2 absent. County Clerk Abby Short certified the resolution for recording as Resolution 2, and the record notes the changes were offered for signature to County Mayor Kerry McCarver.
The amendments reallocate existing, unused budgeted funds across many accounts. Notable adjustments include $550,000 for special education teachers (141-71200-116), $500,000 for transportation bus drivers (141-72710-146), $425,000 for maintenance/other equipment (141-72620-717), $390,000 for retirement costs (141-71100-204) and multiple increases for benefits and other personnel costs. The motion and supporting documentation list scores of smaller line-item changes across instruction, student support, fiscal services, technology and operations for fiscal year 2023–2024.
The minutes record that the School Board had voted 4–0 with two absent on its related approvals; the county legislative roll call mirrored that approval. The resolutions and minutes state the funding source as "Unused Budgeted Funds." The resolutions are part of the official record and are open to public inspection, per the county clerk's certification.
The meeting adjourned at 6:04 P.M.
