Hackensack council approves consent agenda, including open‑space and pedestrian‑safety grant applications

The Hackensack City Council approved a large consent agenda on June 16 that bundled routine items and a set of grant applications and administrative resolutions.
Notable items included a resolution requesting approval of 2026 summer food service program revenue and appropriations; a Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund application and contract authorization for the Sty Park Serenity Garden and a separate application for a Sty Park practice putting green (Resolution 166‑26 and 167‑26 referenced in the agenda); and a resolution authorizing the city to submit a grant application to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for the FY2027 Safe Streets to Transit program to fund Essex Street Station pedestrian safety improvements (Resolution 171‑26). The consent agenda also included a Resolution (175‑26) authorizing submission of a 2026 Local Aid Infrastructure Fund grant application for a Hackensack Pedestrian Safety Project.
Other consent items adopted in a single roll‑call vote included liquor license renewals for the 2026–2027 term, tax refunds, tax appeals settlements, an accumulated‑leave payout for a police officer, appointments to the rent stabilization board, endorsement of an amended housing element and fair‑share plan, and an amended affordable housing trust fund spending plan.
The consent agenda passed by roll call. Council later adopted a separate resolution (183‑26) to contract with a fireworks vendor for Fourth‑of‑July fireworks at Fashini Park.
