Glenwood trustees approve $13.3 million FY2027 operating budget

The Village of Glenwood Board of Trustees on June 16 approved the proposed fiscal year 2027 operating budget, which the mayor said estimates general operating revenues at $13,317,141 — a 7.8% increase over the prior year.
The budget, presented to the board more than five weeks earlier, includes salary allocations the mayor said had been clarified since the initial presentation. “The proposed fiscal year 2027 budget estimate general operating revenues of 13,317,141 which represent a 7.8% increase over the prior year,” the mayor said in presenting the measure. Trustees asked questions and then voted on the motion; the clerk recorded the roll call with trustees voting in favor and the motion passed.
The mayor framed the increase as the result of strengthened fiscal oversight and recovery of revenues not captured in prior years, and said completing outstanding audits — including the 2023 audit — remains a top priority. The administration scheduled an audit meeting for June 17 to advance completion of the 2023 audit and other outstanding financial reporting.
Trustees will consider the appropriations ordinance next month, an administrative step required to finalize spending authority. The board meeting packet and prior presentations contained the line-item detail reviewed by the trustees before the vote.
The board’s approval moves the budget forward for implementation in fiscal year 2027; the mayor encouraged residents to attend the State of the Village address on July 7 for additional context and questions about municipal finances.
