Cheatham County approves budget amendments, school-fund revisions and several county contracts
Summary
Commissioners approved multiple County General Fund and school fund budget amendments including a $1,485,436 ESSER allocation and authorized grants and contracts including pending $75,000 and $25,000 Highway Safety grants and surplus and procurement actions.
At its Aug. 19 meeting the Cheatham County Legislative Body approved a package of budget and administrative actions.
Director of Accounts Sandrine Batts presented County General Fund amendments covering line-item increases including County Buildings ($31,838.49), County Clerk's Office ($11,000 and $13,884) and Ambulance/EMS adjustments including $98,120; commissioners approved the County General Fund amendments by roll call vote 11-0.
The body authorized revisions to the General Purpose School Fund, including an ESSER allocation of $1,485,436 and a revision to Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA) final revenue from $40,909,152.44 to $40,802,734.27; the Board of Education had previously approved the change and commissioners recorded a roll-call approval 11-0.
Commissioners also approved a $63,000 Drug Control Fund amendment for Drug Enforcement and authorized surplusing 10 CPAP machines and attachments from EMS.
County Mayor Kerry McCarver presented several contract and grant items that the Legislative Body approved by roll call 11-0. Approved items included authorization for the mayor's signature on a Food Lion lease agreement and a TN Recovery & Monitoring service agreement; two Tennessee Highway Safety Office grants were approved pending administrative or attorney steps: $75,000 for impaired driving enforcement and equipment (pending attorney approval) and $25,000 for a Network Coordinator (pending grant retrieval and attorney approval). The body also authorized the mayor's signature on an Insight contract for fencing/camera ("flock" cameras) pending attorney approval, and on a contract with Sudden Service to place a tag kiosk in Kingston Springs.
The meeting packet also included routine reports (trustee, sheriff) and departmental updates from the School Board and Economic and Community Development.
