Cheatham County accepts commissioner resignation; vacancy to appear on November ballot

The Cheatham County Legislative Body accepted the resignation of 2nd District Commissioner Ann Jarreau during its Aug. 19 meeting. The motion to accept Jarreau's resignation was made by Commissioner Eugene O. Evans, Sr. and seconded by Commissioner David Anderson; the motion was approved by voice vote.
In separate action, commissioners voted 11-0 in a roll call (motion by Commissioner Walter Weakley, second by Commissioner Calton Blacker) to send the resulting vacancy to the Election Commission so it can be placed on the Nov. 2024 ballot. The roll-call vote was recorded as 11 Yes, 0 No, 0 Absent.
The Legislative Body also honored Jarreau for her service and subsequently appointed Gary Chance to fill a Beer Board seat vacated by Jarreau.
