Council hears water‑tank, civic center and development updates; approves Planning Commission appointment

North Logan — Councilmembers received multiple infrastructure and operations updates on June 2, including construction progress on the city’s new water tank, interior work on the civic center library, landscaping status and community development workload trends.
Jordan Oldham briefed the council on the water tank project: the roof concrete pour was completed, approximately 480 cubic yards of concrete were placed, tensioning work will begin after curing, and interior scaffolding removal is scheduled. Oldham said council members may tour the tank once construction reaches the appropriate stage and thanked staff and nearby residents for coordination during overnight activities.
Alan Luce reported the civic center library interior renovation is expected to finish by the end of August and that around 80% of the landscaping will be completed this year, largely by the Parks Department. Scott Perkes reviewed Community Development’s increased budget needs to handle higher volumes of re‑zoning requests, building permits, subdivisions, mixed‑use proposals and master plan reviews.
On consent, the council approved the appointment of Blake Dursteler to the Planning Commission; Dursteler described his accounting degrees, public accounting experience and time as CFO for Wasatch Property Management.
What’s next: staff will continue construction oversight, schedule a future council tank tour when safe, and process development applications under the updated staffing and budget assumptions.
