Planning Board sets site walk and public hearing for Kittery Memorial Field redevelopment

The Kittery Planning Board on Feb. 26 determined that the preliminary site plan for the Kittery Memorial Field recreational complex at 52 Old Post Road is complete and scheduled both a site walk and a public hearing as next steps.
Ben Gleason of Activitas presented the updated plan showing dugout placement, structures to remain or be removed, proposed retaining walls and measures to reduce nonconformance within the waterbody setback. Holly Ganser, also of Activitas, addressed deed‑restriction language and plan notes on ownership and boundary lines. Discussion covered flood‑plain and drainage considerations, lighting and waivers for height and light spill, parking and bus access.
The Board voted unanimously to find the plan complete (7‑0‑0). Dutch Dunkelberger moved to schedule a site walk for March 24, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.; the motion passed. The Board also scheduled a public hearing for March 12, 2026 to take public testimony and consider the project further. Steering committee member Rich DeMarco spoke about design elements for baseball and little‑league uses.
