Brooksville says nearly all $4.2 million in ARPA funds spent; administration closeout remains

Danielle Hendry, the city's ARPA project manager, told the Brooksville City Council that the city was awarded approximately $4.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds and that nearly all projects funded by those dollars are complete. "All of the city ARPA projects allocated are completed with that funding," Hendry said, adding that the administration closeout work remains (about 2% of funds) and staff will continue reporting through the final Treasury deadline.
Hendry reviewed the program timeline: allocation of funds was completed by 12/31/2025, expenditures must be completed by 12/31/2026, and the final Treasury compliance report is due in April 2027. She listed funded projects including Tom Barn Park fence replacement and restroom upgrades, court resurfacing, water plant upgrades at Lamar drinking water plant, Diamond Creek lift station pumps, Good Neighbor Trail waterline relocation, East Avenue drainage, the milling/resurface program, equipment purchases (brush mower, spider excavator), premium pay for essential workers, and a new fire department roof. She said staff have built project packets for final closeout and will return with additional updates as needed.
Council members asked whether Hendry will present again; she said she is available for quarterly updates through 2026 and will coordinate closeout materials with staff. The council noted the remaining administrative closeout reporting and thanked staff for the oversight and near-complete spending of the award.
What happens next: staff will finalize remaining administrative reporting, compile closeout packets for city records, and present a final Treasury report in 2027.
