At the start of the June 17 Planning Commission meeting, Community Planning Section Manager Teresa Turniak announced she will retire effective July 22 and said she intends to be available to wrap up outstanding work before leaving.
Director and commissioners praised Turniak’s service. Staff said the county has posted the combined land use planning section manager position (merging community planning and current planning after recent retirements) and the first application review for that posting is scheduled for the coming Friday; the position is open until filled.
Turniak, who said she has worked for the county 12 years, characterized her time in the role as “a pleasure and an honor to work for Washington County,” and commissioners said they appreciate her dedication. Staff said they will plan a celebration before her departure and encouraged interested applicants to apply via the Washington County jobs page.
No formal personnel actions were taken at the meeting; the announcement was informational.
