The Talent City Council on June 17 approved Resolution 2026-147-R stating the city’s intent to lease Historic Town Hall to the Talent Historical Society as part of efforts to renovate and secure tenants for the restored building.
Staff presented background from an April study session and noted the resolution is intended to support fundraising and formalize interest in a lease arrangement with the historical society. Tiffany Dunn (representing the historical society) attended to answer questions.
Before discussion and vote, two council members declared potential conflicts of interest due to employment with the Talent Business Alliance and the organization’s prior use of Town Hall space after the fire. Those declarations were made "out of an abundance of caution," and the council member without a conflict moved to approve the resolution.
The council approved the resolution by roll call. Mayor and staff framed the measure as an early step in continuing negotiations and an aid to securing outside funding for renovation work.
Council direction: staff will continue discussions with the historical society and pursue funding and next steps for renovation; the resolution records the city’s interest but does not itself authorize a final lease.
