Council approves short-term rental permit for 724 North Old Robinson Road

The Robinson City Council voted to enact Ordinance 2026-0008 to allow a short-term rental at 724 North Old Robinson Road, a large lot in the city’s Rural Estate zoning district. Planning and development director David Harold presented the application and staff findings before the council hearing and recorded the planning commission’s recommendation for approval.

Harold summarized staff’s standard conditions for a short-term rental under city code: occupancy limits tied to bedrooms (the packet limited the unit to seven guests for a three-bedroom house), maximum stay of 30 days, one parking space per bedroom with tandem parking allowed, required smoke alarms and maintenance of the residential character of the property. The planning and zoning commission recommended approval with the same conditions and suggested a two-year time period for the permit to allow future review.

Council discussion included staff explanations of the code’s eight findings of fact for granting a specific-use permit and confirmation that no written opposition letters had been returned on the item. A motion to enact the ordinance was made and seconded; the council voted to approve the permit. The short-term-rental ordinance now becomes city law per the enacted ordinance number. Staff indicated the standard enforcement and complaint procedures in the code will apply; any conditions or complaints may be revisited by the council when the permit’s two-year review period arrives.
