Cottonwood County approves three conditional‑use permits, holds two applications

Alex Schultz, Planning & Zoning Technician, presented five conditional‑use permit applications at the Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners’ June 2 meeting in Windom.
The board unanimously approved a conditional‑use permit for Hunter Pankonin (Minnesota Supreme Feeders) to build a shop in shoreland in Highwater Township, Section 10. The approval, moved by Commissioner Larry Anderson and seconded by Commissioner Wayne Maras, included five conditions: compliance with Cottonwood County Zoning Ordinance No. 28; obtaining all necessary federal, state and local permits and fees; implementation of erosion control measures; provision of a waste receptacle on site during construction; and installation of silt fencing during construction.
The board also unanimously approved two conditional‑use permits for Neuhof Hutterian Brethren. One authorizes construction of a new turkey feedlot in Mountain Lake Township, Section 17 (motion by Commissioner Donna Gravley, second by Commissioner Wayne Maras) with four conditions: compliance with Zoning Ordinance No. 28; required permits and fees; erosion control measures; and an on‑site waste receptacle during construction. The second permits construction of a shop within the Colony in Mountain Lake Township, Section 16 (motion by Commissioner Wayne Maras, second by Commissioner Larry Anderson) under the same four conditions.
Two applications were presented but not decided. A Conditional Use Permit application from Darren Haugen to erect a telecommunications tower in Delton Township, Section 4 was discussed but received no action at this meeting. Likewise, a CUP application from Kyle Ludewig to reopen a gravel pit in Amo Township, Section 16 was discussed but not acted on.
The approvals were recorded as unanimous votes of the commissioners present. The minutes list Commissioners Tom Appel (Chair), Larry Anderson, Donna Gravley and Wayne Maras as present; Commissioner Stevens was absent. The Planning & Zoning office will follow up on permit compliance and required permits and inspections.
