Resident criticizes prolonged roadwork; state senator praises Whole Foods decision

During public comment at the June 15 meeting, state Senator Johnson praised the village’s decision to approve Whole Foods for the Clove redevelopment and presented the Rivas family with a copy of a death resolution honoring Orlando Rivas.

Later, local business owner Dermat Han told trustees his employees and customers find it difficult to reach businesses because of what he described as a "perpetual state of road works," singling out North Arlington Heights Road and ongoing construction on Route 53. Han called the situation a "disgrace" and urged trustees to pressure the authorities responsible for the projects. "You do represent the community here and you should be screaming long and hard and telling the authorities ... that this is unacceptable," he said.

Trustees responded that the village advocates with the agencies responsible for those road projects on an ongoing basis and that staff continues to press for progress.
