HDC approves exterior changes at Court Lane home, asks to preserve window trim

The Historic Districts Commission on June 17 approved an application from Jay Quarantello for exterior work at 3840 Court Lane, including a late‑Victorian paint scheme, removal of plastic shutters and the removal/closing of a small rear window.
Quarantello said he selected historically informed paint colors and consulted late‑Victorian paint references. He described the back window as barely visible from the street and said his preference would be to leave the trim so the opening's outline remains visible.
Commissioners questioned whether the window opening was original and whether to leave the frame. After discussion commissioners expressed a preference for retaining the trim to preserve the record of the opening. Jeff Young moved to approve the application with the window trim left in place as a "ghost" of the opening; the motion passed on a roll-call vote of commissioners present.
Quarantello said materials are in hand and installation will proceed once the applicant coordinates with public works.
