The Planning Commission recommended approval of petition V-5-26, a request by adjacent property owner Anthony DeMichael to vacate approximately 20 ft by 55 ft of public alley west of 359 Whitney Avenue and combine it with his private property.
Staff said the alley is a dead end in disrepair and does not serve other properties; public utilities will retain a reserved utility easement because of existing overhead ComEd lines and Nicor expressed no opposition. Staff and public works did not oppose the vacation provided a public utility easement is maintained, and staff recommended approval to City Council.
Anthony DeMichael, the petitioner, was sworn and declined to add to the staff report. The commission moved and by roll call recommended approval to City Council; the staff planner will advise the petitioner when the item is scheduled for council consideration.
Action record: Motion to recommend approval of V-5-26 (vacation of specified alley portion) to City Council; roll-call recorded unanimous yes votes in favor.
