Hudson City Council previews multiple resolutions including reassessment agreement, budget amendments and appointments

On a Columbia County real property reassessment agreement, a council member said the county’s office has a backlog and that adopting a four-year reassessment cycle could secure state funds (noted as $5 per parcel in assessment years and $2 per parcel in intervening years). Members asked staff for more information about available state funding and whether the city could be scheduled sooner.
Other items previewed included a budget amendment to create or fund a full-time photo position, a budget amendment to cover a portion of 2024 senior center utilities, an authorized transfer of funds to cover CSEA contract increases (money moved from contingency into personal lines), consolidation of meter parking revenue lines after the city moved to a kiosk-based system, petty cash increases for BPW and Treasury, retirement-system housekeeping for titles, and a renewal of multiple insurance policies with Marsh & Sterling.
Members also discussed a one-time longevity payout for the housing director (a periodic payment every five years), with staff noting that grant funding that ultimately reimburses that position may not be guaranteed in future years and that further conversations about the position’s funding are necessary.
Councilmembers asked that staff provide clearer budget justification and state grant details before the next meeting. No votes were taken Monday; all items were described as scheduled for formal consideration at the next council meeting.
