Planning Commission backs rezoning of six First Baptist Church parcels to professional office

The Otsego City Planning Commission voted Aug. 26 to recommend that the City Commission approve a rezoning request from First Baptist Church to change six parcels from RB (single and two-family residential) to PO (professional office).
City Manager Mitchell explained that the request covers six properties—226 Court; 230 Court; 234 Court; 246 Court; 250 Court; and 117 N. Wilmott—and that the church plans to combine the parcels in the future. Member Stacey Withee asked whether consolidation is the church's ultimate intention; City Manager Mitchell confirmed parcel consolidation is planned. The public hearing opened at 7:05 p.m. and closed at 7:07 p.m.
Member Gary Trobeck moved that the Planning Commission recommend approval of the rezoning; Member Wayne Rayburn seconded the motion, which carried. The recommendation will be forwarded to the City Commission for a final decision. The meeting minutes do not record a roll-call tally of votes.
