Council adopts Parks fee resolution including new swim-team option and cemetery lot adjustments

The Enumclaw City Council approved Resolution 18-79 on May 26, amending the Parks Department fee schedule to add a two-day-per-week option for the aquatic center’s swim program and to update cemetery pricing for several categories.
Alina Hibbs, Parks and Recreation Director, told council the aquatic program’s current three-day option costs $276 and staff proposed a two-day option priced lower to expand affordability while registrants would still participate in the same number of swim meets. "This would just incorporate a more affordable option for our participants at the aquatic center, and staff recommends approval," Hibbs said.
Hibbs and staff also described updates to cemetery pricing: numerous lot types are sold out and the resolution updates prices for infant lots, cremation garden lots and certain mausoleum alcove niches, reflecting operational and maintenance cost increases and contributions to the cemetery endowment. City staff and council noted the cemetery board did not have quorum but the change was brought to full council to avoid penalizing Weeks Funeral Home.
Chris (staff) explained the fee resolution also implemented an automatic 3.1% CPI-based school impact fee adjustment applied April 1; staff said they would evaluate the school district’s facilities plan once approved later this summer and could revisit the fee policy if warranted. Council moved and approved Resolution 18-79.
