Council members asked whether the appropriation buys equipment outright or includes multi-year licensing; staff said the package includes equipment and licensing and that synchronizing contract renewal dates for body cameras and interview-room systems was a goal. The appropriation was presented as an additional-appropriation ordinance (2026-06-15-001) to capital outlays in fund 1138-41000.
A motion and second carried and the council approved the appropriation by roll-call vote. Members subsequently moved to suspend the rule requiring a second reading and completed the second reading and final approval that night. Staff reminded members to sign the ordinance before leaving to ensure the adoption is processed.
