Contractor updates board on HVAC upgrade at Mcraer Elementary; district aims for July completion

Rob Loner, project manager for contractor Train, briefed the Rowan County Board of Education on progress of the HVAC upgrade at Mcraer Elementary on June 16.
"I'm Rob Loner. I'm the project manager for Train," Loner said, and provided a timeline for equipment arrival and installation. He reported that all heat pumps are on site, hydraulic pumps and ERV units are scheduled to ship in early August, and the district expects to install the ERV and makeup-air units during the first week of October fall break.
Loner said the contractor mobilized and has completed initial ceiling and ductwork demo in administration and kitchen areas. He described a phased approach: work will continue through classroom wings with the controls and final hookups following mechanical installation.
On timing, Loner told the board, "The completion date, the plan is to be be complete by July 31st. Units, everything's up and running. Teachers are back August 10th and the students are August 11th." He and staff said existing units will remain in operation during the school year and major disruptive work for ERV units is scheduled for fall break to avoid impacting occupied days.
Board members asked for updates and photographs at the next meeting; the project team agreed to return with further progress pictures and status reports.
