Planning Commission hears overview of new housing legislation, plans forum

Peter Hughes, Marlborough’s Director of Planning & Development, briefed the Planning Commission Feb. 4 on recently enacted housing legislation and how the town will implement related planning steps and timelines. Hughes said he will draft a document for the commission to review at the next meeting and recommended holding a public forum in March or April during a Planning Commission session to gather input.

The presentation outlined implementation steps and a timeline for the town’s housing plan. Commissioners discussed the plan and related projects in general terms; the minutes record discussion but do not include detailed policy language or specific zoning text. The commission also discussed the Housing Opportunity Committee and HB 8002, described in the minutes as related to a housing growth plan and possible zoning amendments.
