The council discussed interim compensation for Chief Snyder. Mayor Charles said his recommendation is to set the interim compensation at $109,000 per year for the period Snyder serves in that role; the mayor said the figure was lower than the prior $120,000 town-administrator rate and represented a net personnel-cost savings because the town will not backfill the position. Councilmembers sought transparency on budget impacts and timelines for any future budget amendment.
After discussion, Councilmember Royce moved and another member seconded the motion to accept and place upon the record the mayor's assumption of executive and administrative duties, confirm limits on the interim administrator's authority, direct preservation of financial records, and authorize the auditor review. The clerk took a roll call; the council voted yes and the motion passed.
The council did not adopt a separate long-term delegation resolution at the meeting but Mayor Charles said a delegation-of-authority resolution and further details would be brought forward in a future meeting to clarify permanent roles.
