Orrville council completes year-end appropriations and closes out grant fund adjustments

The Orrville City Council adopted year-end appropriations and housekeeping resolutions at its Dec. 16 meeting to meet auditor requirements and close the fiscal year.
Council adopted Resolution 42-24 to make appropriations for expenses through Dec. 31, 2024, and Resolution 43-24 for appropriations through Dec. 31, 2025. Later in the meeting the council adopted Resolution 50-24, a year-end housekeeping measure that reduces appropriations by a net $131,500: Bloomin' Orrville appropriations were decreased by $1,500 and the Grant Fund was reduced by $130,000 because an Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) asphalt resurfacing project will be accounted for in Fund 401 rather than the grants fund.
Finance Director Strimlan previously presented the Fund Balance Report for period ending Nov. 30, 2024; Carr moved approval and the council voted unanimously to accept the report. Squirrell moved each year-end resolution and council approved them with the reading rules suspended where recorded.
The measures were recorded as adopted unanimously in open session. The transcript does not show additional debate or outside testimony on the appropriation adjustments.
