Clerk Hans told the board the county has 27 licenses available based on population and that 21 renewal applications were currently before the county. Two businesses that previously held licenses did not submit renewal paperwork: Community Mountain LLC (Sleeping Giant) and Valley Meets LLC, Clerk Hans said, and staff recommended they reapply if they want a new license.
Staff also flagged three renewal matters that require administrative attention: Elephant Head Lodge and the PAL Golf Club have leases that expire during the license term and staff suggested the board consider conditional approval pending submission of lease documentation; Triple 9 Inc. (Top of the World) submitted its fee to the state instead of the county and staff said the county would withhold issuance until the correct payment clears.
Commissioner Theel asked whether a condition should be placed on approvals tied to leases; staff recommended that the board may add a condition or simply hold issuance until required documents arrive. After a public hearing produced no objections, the board voted to close the hearing and to approve the list of retail and malt-beverage permits as presented, with the condition that any outstanding checks clear and that staff confirm leases where required.
The clerk said no negative feedback had been received on the applicants and that the sheriff's office has not reported enforcement problems for the licensees in question. The malt-beverage-only permits on the list were identified as lower-cost renewals and were handled as part of the consolidated approval.
The board's action allows staff to proceed with ministerial processing of the renewals while withholding final issuance for the specific licenses until the clerk's office receives required lease documents or fee payments.
