CJCC votes to combine Diversion and OWI Court subcommittees; co-chairs nominated

The Oneida County Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee voted unanimously to merge the Diversion and OWI Court subcommittees and nominated Ms. Brenda Lee as chair and Ms. Sara Tienhaara as second chair; corp counsel and the county clerk noted outstanding action items on committee documents must be addressed.
Steven Schreier, chairperson of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee, moved that the Diversion and OWI Court subcommittees be combined into a single committee that would meet on alternating months. The motion was seconded by Ms. Beth Hoerchler and carried unanimously.
Under the motion Mr. Schreier nominated Ms. Brenda Lee to serve as chair and Ms. Sara Tienhaara as second chair; Ms. Hoerchler seconded the nominations and no other nominations were made. The committee approved the nominations and the reorganization by voice vote.
Committee members discussed whether the change conflicted with existing by-laws. According to the minutes, corp counsel and the Oneida County Clerk reviewed the proposal and indicated that outstanding action items on the committee document would need to be addressed before implementation.
The committee directed staff to distribute information about the change to county board members for awareness. The reorganization was presented as an administrative consolidation intended to streamline oversight of related treatment-court and diversion efforts.
The meeting ended with public comment thanking Chair Schreier for his service; Schreier is retiring from the County Board and this was his last CJCC meeting. Schreier moved to adjourn at 12:46 p.m.; the committee will next meet on June 11, 2026, in the County Board Room.
