Votes at a glance: Freeport council passes traffic and zoning items, advances fee and procurement proposals
Summary

At the June 15 Freeport City Council meeting, councilors approved or advanced the following items (not all items completed final adoption; below are actions recorded during the meeting):
- Consent agenda (minutes, reports, finance bills): approved by voice/roll-call (5–0 recorded on the consent vote).
- Appointments: Katherine Smith to Arts & Culture Commission; Andrew Reer and Ron Kaine reappointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals — approved 6–0 on roll call.
- Ordinance 202635 (additional stop signs at Broadway & Oak): council suspended rules and adopted the ordinance 6–0 to add two stop signs for safety.
- Ordinance 202639 (master parking map: two additional ADA stalls at Spring & Chicago): council suspended rules and approved the map amendment 6–0.
- Ordinance 202640 (consolidated sign code into chapter 1468 with fee and definition updates): second reading and final passage after suspension of rules, approved 6–0.
- Ordinance 202641 (special use permit for outdoor seating at Tony’s Bar): council suspended rules and approved the special use permit 6–0.
- Ordinance 202634 (purchasing policy): received first reading and was moved forward for further review and possible amendment.
- Ordinance 202637 (ambulance service charges): ordinance received first reading; an amendment to apply missed CPI increases failed on the roll call and the ordinance remained in its original form to be returned for further consideration.
Several other first readings (wastewater hauler fees, lift-assist fee) were presented and advanced as first readings. Council heard department reports and took public comment on multiple matters (property dispute, water-bill estimate, community events).
