The Hall County Board of Commissioners approved the audit committee’s recommendations for a series of transfers to the equipment and improvement reserve fund, took action to declare two county assessor vehicles surplus, and approved personnel moves including an added pay step for non‑union employees and a countywide salary study.
Audit committee chair/staff presented a list of departmental transfer requests and the committee’s positions: small copier transfers and several equipment purchases were approved as requested (clerk copier $500; treasurer copier $3,200; attorney copy machines $10,500; corrections security cameras and inmate control device $10,000; probation office remodel support $11,000; GIS and surveyor equipment requests approved). The committee recommended denying a $3,500 transfer for a building inspector vehicle and suggested rebudgeting a road department excavator ($280,000) into the 2627 capital budget rather than transferring now. The committee also recommended reducing a sheriff request to $5,800 from a larger ask to fit available funds.
An IT package described as including network hardware, licenses and body‑cam equipment appeared in the list; the transcript records the IT total with a formatting anomaly (transcript shows "176,3634"), which staff confirmed will be clarified and documented in the budget files. The election office request for additional equipment ($44,500) and the weed department UTV sprayer ($5,250) were approved as requested.
The board moved to accept the audit committee recommendations and approved the transfers on a 6–0 vote. Commissioners commended audit committee staff for thorough review and asked staff to work with departments to finalize amounts and timing for larger purchases.
After closed session the board also approved an addition of Step 11 to the non‑union pay scale (a $0.50 per hour increase) effective July 1; the motion passed 6–0. The board then authorized a countywide salary study to be conducted in the next fiscal year to refine pay bands and compensation parameters.
Separately, commissioners approved a resolution declaring two county assessor vehicles (a 2013 Ford Explorer and a 2016 Ford Taurus) surplus and authorized the board chair to sign (Resolution 26‑16).
