The Cache County School District board on Thursday unanimously approved three tentative labor agreements covering teachers, administrators and support professionals for the 2026–27 school year.
Ron Hill, president of the Cache Education Association, spoke during public comment and praised the district’s transparency during negotiations, saying teachers “voted more than 98% in favor of the negotiated agreement” now before the board.
After the public hearing on the budget concluded, the board moved to the action agenda. Motions to approve the teacher, administrators and support professionals tentative agreements were each moved, seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote. The board also approved the SHINE procedures, a salary supplement intended for highly needed educators.
Why it matters: Ratifying the agreements formalizes pay and working conditions negotiated between the district and employee associations ahead of the 2026–27 school year. The agreements were placed on the agenda alongside budget items because their costs were reflected in the district’s budget presentation.
What the meeting recorded: Board members noted electronic voting displayed inconsistently during the meeting, but each motion was confirmed by voice vote. No substantive objections to the agreements were recorded in the meeting minutes.
