Coralville Library trustees approve routine business as director flags materials-budget impacts

The Coralville Public Library Board of Trustees unanimously approved its agenda, the April meeting minutes and the list of April bills during its May 6 meeting.
President Bob Turnquist called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Amanda Elkins, a trustee, moved to approve the agenda; Pat Kenner seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Kenner later moved to approve the minutes of the April 1 meeting; Elkins seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Kenner moved that the April bills be paid as presented; Trustee Molly Logan seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Library Director Alison Ames Galstad told trustees the bills list was longer than usual because the previous board meeting fell at the start of the month and some invoices arrived late. Galstad said the library is "seeing the effects of the Baker & Taylor closing on this year's budget," and identified duplicate Hoopla invoices and a missed T-Mobile bill that accounted for multiple line items. Galstad also explained a Data Axle charge was for the Polk City Directory and noted several payments at the end of the list were for summer programs.
The board did not alter the bills list and approved payment as presented. The meeting adjourned at 6:31 p.m.
