Legion asks Wymore council to consider resuming sponsorship of local baseball team; lease with SYS cited

Wymore — Representatives of the Legion baseball program told the Wymore City Council on Dec. 21 they would like to realign the team under the Legion after operating under Southern Youth Sports (SYS) for roughly two years.
Mark and Bobbie Hroch and Keith Maguire said the Legion and the team would like to resume Legion sponsorship in future seasons. The city currently has a lease with SYS for use of the baseball field at Arbor State Park; councilmembers said SYS would need to request termination of that lease before the city could change lease terms. City Attorney Andy Carothers said he will contact SYS representatives (Angela Meyer or Dan Johnson) to determine whether SYS wishes to terminate the lease. The council added the matter to the next meeting agenda for follow-up.
No formal action was taken at the Dec. 21 meeting.
