Wymore council discusses shrinking Planning & Zoning committee, approves several appointments

The Wymore City Council discussed vacancies on standing boards and committees and considered changes to the Planning and Zoning Committee’s required membership. Mayor Collin Meints and City Attorney Andy Carothers said the existing city ordinance sets Planning and Zoning membership at nine; they proposed changing that to five to seven members because of difficulty finding volunteers and because some current members do not live within city limits.
Councilmembers expressed support for keeping utility superintendent Tim Sedlacek on the Park Board as a liaison between the city and the board. The council approved the presented boards and committee appointments, adding Samantha Thompson to the Cemetery Board and Caleb McKeever to the CRA Board; the motion passed unanimously. Mayor Meints will continue to fill vacancies, and City Attorney Carothers will draft any ordinance changes for future consideration.
