Board approves sealed bids process to sell surplus road equipment

Engineer Laura Severs told the board July 22 that several pieces of secondary-roads equipment are surplus and recommended disposition by sealed bids: two single-axle trucks, a Ford tractor, a brush chipper, a vintage Oliver disc and a garden disc. Severs said the items are either replaced, no longer used, or have been superseded by more efficient equipment and that sealed bids would be opened publicly before the next board meeting.
Severs said county staff set reserve prices informed by market research and noted local interest in the items. The board approved the sealed-bid approach in a unanimous vote after brief discussion; members noted the county could accept bids below reserve or pursue other auction platforms if desired.
Severs said the county plans to open the sealed bids publicly at 10:00 a.m. the Monday before the next board meeting and present results to the board at the following meeting.
