Board approves $60,980 purchase of rescue truck to come from gaming funds

The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors voted July 22 to buy a new rescue truck for Emergency Services from Berry Motor for $60,980 and fund the purchase with county gaming revenues.
Drew Byer, Emergency Services, presented three bids and recommended Berry Motor despite its higher price because that vehicle included additional communications equipment useful to field operations. "They did add quite a few options ... mainly the hotspot and other things for communications type stuff," Byer said.
Bids listed on the agenda were: Berry Motor $60,980; Jensen Ford $59,197; and Styver Ford $58,650, all including delivery to the countys designated location. Byer and Budget Director Ryan Ericson explained that recent changes in state law (House File 718) limit the county's ability to use CIP funds for vehicle purchases, so the county will use gaming funds for this purchase and reallocate roughly $90,300 in CIP to another project subsequently.
A motion to purchase from Berry Motor for $60,980, with funds coming from gaming revenues, passed 4-0 (moved by Nelson, seconded by Carper).
