Kanab selected for Utah Rural Economic Blueprint grant; planning work to start in April 2026

City Manager Kyler Ludwig announced that Kanab was selected to participate in the State of Utah Rural Economic Blueprint Program and will begin a community‑driven planning process in April 2026.
The program, run by the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO), will involve a local assessment phase featuring stakeholder interviews, a 15‑member steering committee, a community survey and a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis. GOEO staff will assist by creating a community profile using local input and economic data. The steering committee will guide plan development; after adoption Kanab will move into an implementation phase with ongoing GOEO support aimed at helping the city compete for state economic development grants.
Ludwig characterized the process as collaborative and community driven and encouraged council and staff participation in the assessment and implementation phases.
