Take Six founding member previews new album and Blue Note shows

Claude McNite, a founding member of the vocal group Take Six, spoke with Bronxet about the group’s history, charitable partnerships, and an upcoming album and New York dates at the Blue Note.

McNite said the band has spent roughly two years developing the album, described on-air with both the titles Rapsidity and Rap City; he explained the project draws on jazz standards from the 1920s–1950s and that the group sought to contemporize those songs while retaining their original essence.

“We really like each other,” McNite said, describing the group dynamic that has supported longevity and creative risk over nearly four decades. He noted recent tour stops and listed Blue Note performances scheduled for the 19th–21st, with two shows each night.

McNite also highlighted the group’s philanthropic work, including a partnership with St. Jude’s Hospital. He described the physical demands of a capella touring—sleep, hydration and rest for maintaining vocal performance—and discussed memorable career moments, including performances overseas and collaborations with major artists.

The broadcast included an on-air invitation to see Take Six in New York and did not include an external review or critical appraisal of the new album.
