Whole Health wins three committee approvals: immunization grant, epidemiologist position and ACE funding shift

The Tompkins County Health & Human Services Committee voted on three Whole Health resolutions on June 17 after brief updates from the department.
The first resolution authorized acceptance of a New York State Association of County Health Officials (NYSACHO) Immunization Action Plan mini‑grant (Department of Whole Health ID 14158), to be administered in partnership with Cortland County for communications and outreach aimed at improving childhood immunization timeliness. The motion was moved and seconded on the floor; the resolution passed with four votes in favor and one abstention. A department representative said the award will support a communications strategy and an RFP will identify local partners to implement outreach.
The second resolution created a budgeted epidemiologist ("epi") position for the Public Health Department (ID 14141). Committee members noted the position was included in last year’s budget and the department intends to move forward with hiring now. The motion passed 4–1.
The third resolution authorized reallocation of unallocated state aid to fund an Assisted Competitive Employment (ACE) program (code 1380, ID 14170) that provides vocational rehabilitation and supported employment services for adults with serious mental illness; Whole Health said it will issue an RFP for community partners to operate the program. Committee members voted unanimously in favor.
Votes and procedure: The committee recorded motion/second for each item and announced vote tallies at the meeting; counts reported to the committee were (resolution 1) four in favor, one abstention; (resolution 2) four in favor, one opposed (4–1); and (resolution 3) unanimous approval.
What happens next: Whole Health will issue RFPs or partner solicitations where noted, begin the process to fill the approved epidemiologist role, and bring budgetary or contract items to appropriate committees as required.
