Beach Point residents press Kenosha council over abandoned Schneider auto salvage and wildlife concerns

Kenosha — Two residents of Beach Point Apartments told the Common Council on July 7 that an inactive auto salvage lot adjacent to their senior housing complex has become a public-safety and sanitation problem and asked the city to intervene.
Sandra Malcak Sanchez, who gave her address to the clerk and identified herself as a landscape gardener for the property, said the Schneider Auto Salvage site is overgrown, appears unmaintained, and has been used by homeless people to sleep overnight. "We have major problems at Beach Point Apartment," Sanchez said, listing raccoons, possums, coyotes and rodents entering the property and damaging cars and dumpsters. She said senior residents are afraid to go out at night.
Another resident, Pamela Brown, described morning messes left by raccoons and expressed concern about rabies exposure and rats near 85th Street. Brown said she had tried to contact Ald. Rosenberg and had not received returned calls.
What the residents requested: Both speakers asked the council and their alderman for inspection and enforcement or other city action to remove the nuisance, secure dumpsters, and restore safety for seniors who live at Beach Point.
What the council did: The council acknowledged the comments; the clerk and mayor thanked the speakers. No immediate enforcement action was recorded on the July 7 agenda; the matter was raised publicly so staff and the appropriate alderman could follow up.
