Board approves emergency street sweeping and discusses storm surge resilience planning

Separately, Eric Long outlined a storm surge resilience initiative for Pelican Sound that would include an advisory or review panel and coordination with county, state and federal agencies. Long presented a hypothetical analysis for a storm like 'Hurricane Milton' showing that a 10‑ to 12‑foot storm surge could have flooded an estimated 45%–55% of the community, and he asked the CDD to designate a board and staff representative for coordination; Mr. Long and newly sworn supervisor Keith Merrill were assigned to assist, and Mr. Krebs was authorized to provide technical help as needed.
Mr. Kurth also noted one nano‑bubbler machine will need repair; staff will revisit electrical proposals for relocating aeration equipment that is too close to a homeowner lanai. The board commended staff and contractors for a prompt storm response.
