Resident raises Pinehurst drainage and ponding concerns; board directs engineer to inspect

Resident Shari Perkins told the River Ridge Board on July 23 that, "a week after the street drains were plugged, the drainage issues persist; water has been overflowing in the triangle monument area," and that a retention pond draining between River 8 and River 9 "appears to be non-functional; ponding is occurring and is nearly 1' above the drain." Perkins said another resident, Fred Kronke, had emailed her about the ponding.
A Board member asked whether there was video of water bubbling out of the drain; Perkins said she has several photographs and will obtain video footage and provide it to CDD staff. District Engineer John Baker explained that, before the inlet was plugged, water from one system was backing into another and the plug stopped that transfer, but "there is no place for the water to go and it is essentially akin to a very tiny pond in a pipe." Baker said a solution will likely require additional study.
The Board directed the District Engineer to view the drainage firsthand and staff will follow up. No formal motion to expend funds or to undertake immediate repairs was recorded; staff noted they are obtaining an additional proposal for inlet work and will keep the Pinehurst inlet estimate on a future agenda.
