Klamath County commissioners authorize bridge bid, approve museum contracts, appointments and other routine business

Klamath Falls, Ore. — The Klamath County Board of Commissioners met Jan. 20, 2026 in Room 219 and approved a slate of routine agenda items, including authorization to issue an invitation for bids for a county bridge replacement and multiple museum contracts and appointments.
Jeremy Morris of Public Works presented authorization to issue an invitation for bids for the 2026 East Langell Valley Bridge over Lost River replacement project. Commissioner Nichols moved to authorize the invitation; Commissioner DeGroot seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Museum Director Ashley Affleck-Johnson requested approval to accept a quote from All Pro Painting for painting updates at the Baldwin Hotel Museum and a separate quote from Shaffer’s Electric, LLC for electrical work. Both items were moved by Commissioner Nichols, seconded by Commissioner DeGroot, and approved unanimously. The museum also requested and received approval to accept a grant from the Klamath County Cultural Coalition; that request was presented by Affleck-Johnson and approved on a unanimous vote.
The board confirmed two appointments to local special road district boards. Commissioner Minty read and moved the appointment of Misti Buche to the Valley Acres Special Road District Board; Commissioner DeGroot seconded and the motion was recorded as approved (Order OR2026-031). A subsequent appointment of Kenneth Shearer to the Klamath River Acres Special Road District Board was approved (Order OR2026-032).
Additional items approved included a facility use agreement with Oregon Tech to host a training for certified treatment providers for the Local Alcohol and Drug Planning Committee (presented by Jennifer Little, Public Health) and a recommendation for a new liquor license for the Market & Deli at Running Y, which was read into the record.
