The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury on June 18, 2026, approved a slate of routine agenda items — including rezoning requests, rescission of two ordinances related to adjudicated properties, procurement awards for supplies and vehicles, and infrastructure easements — and voted to enter executive session to discuss potential litigation stemming from the recent annexation of the town of Iowa.
Among the actions the jury approved were a liquor and beer permit application (motion by Mr. Guillory, second by Mr. Lewis), a rezoning of the 300 block of Bunker Road in Ward 3 to light industrial to allow a contractor’s shop and storage (motion by Mr. Smith, second by Mr. Marcantel), and a rezoning of 3032 Highway 1256 in Ward 4 to central business commercial to allow intensive recreational facilities (motion carried with conditions noted). The jury also voted to rescind two ordinances related to adjudicated properties (Ordinance Nos. 8176 and 8104).
The jury adopted a resolution supporting the Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District’s application to the U.S. Department of Commerce to transition Foreign-Trade Zone 87 to the Alternative Site Framework. It approved an act of donation for a permanent utility servitude connected to the Big Lake Road water line expansion and an act of sale of a permanent road right‑of‑way for the Gary Cutoff bridge replacement project. The jury also authorized a second professional architectural contract for the Calcasieu Parish Library Facility Management Building Project.
On procurement matters the jury accepted multiple low bids across categories: janitorial supplies (awards to Economical Janitorial and Paper Supplies, Interboro Packaging, Jessco Sales, Sanitary Supply Company, Unipak); assorted pipe and fittings (Coburn Supply Company; Eunice Coastal Culvert and Supply; Southern Pipe and Supply); mosquito-control products (Broussard Petroleum Products); and crushed stone (Apex Aggregate Supply; DP Aggregates; Port Agg Aggregates). The jury approved purchase of three 2026 or newer pickup trucks from Bolton Ford for $42,624, $38,814 and $40,433 respectively. When juror Mr. Guillory asked if the janitorial vendors were local, purchasing agent Christy Cumberland responded, "A couple of them are, a couple of them are not," and identified Jessco and Sanitary Supply as local vendors and Economical as located in Jennings.
The record reflects a recusal by Mr. Barras on the crushed-stone item. The jury also accepted the Intracoastal Park boat launch parking and pavement improvements as substantially complete and adopted condolence resolutions for the families of the late Gerald Fountain and Dr. John Noble Jr.
Late in the meeting jurors voted to go into executive session ‘‘to discuss potential litigation arising from recent annexation of the town of Iowa.’’ The motion to enter executive session was moved by Mr. Guillory and seconded by Mr. Quinn and carried by the jury. The meeting then adjourned.
All motions referenced were recorded as "motion carries" in the meeting minutes; individual roll-call tallies were not read into the public record for the items summarized here.
